There are some potential clients I just don't care about
Thursday October 12, 2006
It’s one thing if you lose a potential client to an equal, or better pitch from another company; that’s fair enough and you can understand the client’s decision. I have also found that in situations like this you can actually learn something about winning pitches in the future.
Beyond all that grown up stuff, though, being blown out by a potential client at the first hurdle can be also be quite satisfying, in a childish way.
Blown out because you refuse to put a fixed price on a project you know nothing about before anything is discussed. Blown out because you say the absolute minimum is going to be around £1,500. Blown out because, no you don’t think it can be done in a week. To be blown out like this and then to log on to their new site and see the utter bag of crap sitting there in all its I’m a “designer” who works in WYSIWYG mode only glory is extremely fucking satisfying; it’s nice to know that some "clients‚Äù get exactly what they deserve! :D
