I'm in .Net magazine don't ye know

Tuesday June 6, 2006

It was a bit of a surprise to be asked to write something for .Net magazine I have to say, but written for them I have and, though, I haven’t actually seen it yet I believe it’s out now.

Once would be quite enough you’d think but no I have been asked to do it again and possibly again after that and then maybe some more. At this stage I am still asking the question, are they talking to me? There’s no one else here so they must be talking to me, so lets see how things work out.

It’s quite a nice change actually, not being able to swear and to have to put a bit of thought into my writing. having someone tidy up my shoddy grammar is not so bad either.

I wonder, though, whether my left testicle will actually make it to print in the next issue, or if it will be edited out of existence… have to wait and see I guess.

Comments are open.

Congradulations on the .Net article! I do wonder what it was on… That dang-fangled “Cooking 2.0” everyone’s been hyping about perhaps?

The issue is out. I see a screenshot of your site is showcased in a big section entitled Best of British but I’m not seeing anything within the article. Need to read it more carefully. Congrats!

Congrat and big woot. Best of british – is that beef or lamb?

You can’t see John in there owing to my huge “Style Guru” section in the Best Of British” article. Muwuhaha!

However, John might be referring to his massive article about web standards near the back of LAST MONTH’s .Net mag (the 150th issue special).

    Is that right John?

Was it last month… I know I am in next month, I think … I am in this month amongst Best of British too… Colly is in there too as a Style Guru? I am confused, Scooby Doo where are you?

Nice one. I used to subscribe to .Net, but thought that it went downhill a bit :-) – Not due, of course, to your excellent addition to the mag!

    @David
Apparently they are totally revamping .net, so you might want to take another look.

Congratulations, John…though I’m jealous that other people are allowed to tidy your grammar.

Yeah, the next .net issue is going to be completely revamped. I’ve seen a glimpse of it (due to me being in next month’s too) and from what I’ve seen, it looks really good, and I’m quite looking forward to seeing the finished printed version

I’ve just got back from the newsagents, empty handed and a tad disappointed…I spent half ‘n hour in the fishing section, ‘twas not to be seen anywhere… :(

    Congrats, John.

Now, when are you submitting your mug for the CSS Geeks, Freaks and Other Stuff Not Worth Mentioning Calendar?

I bought the mag at the end of May when it had just come out. (Isn’t it weird how some regions get some mags much earlier?) and I read with interest your comments on the use of tables.

I have to admit here that through sheer laziness I do still use tables and I even nest them. sorry

I hereby promise to endeavour to use CSS instead of tables!

    Cheers,

    D.
